Wondering What Is A Labor Law Poster?

Most people have seen a labor law poster either at their bathrooms or break rooms but have never really given it a thought what the whole idea is all about. This is roughly a 3ft x 2ft poster. In addition to not taking the troubles of reading what is contained in the poster, most people are as well not aware of the importance of having them posted by most businesses in US. Essentially, just like in every other state, there are requirements for posting Arizona labor poster which every business must comply with.  Perhaps the basic question we should ask ourselves is where do these posters come from and who really authorizes them?

In USA, Occupational Safety & Health Administration, commonly known as OSHA, requires that every business in California must conspicuously post California labor law poster in an open place in the business premises. This applies to every other state in USA where the business must post labor laws of the state it operates in. These labor law posters are simply an outline of the rights of the employees working in the business. Whereas some rights of these employees are mandated and authorized by Federal law, state law mandates others where a particular state has specific regulations regarding its employees.

There are some requirements for posting labor law poster and some business will have to post them while others don’t need to post the posters. For instance, a California based business with no employees need not to post California labor law poster which is also the case with a business that has only volunteers or contract employees. If the business is a family owned enterprise, you also don’t have to post employee rights. Federal law mandates businesses to make 9 postings such as Federal Minimum Wage, Equal Employment Opportunity is the law, Employee Polygraph Protection Act, Employment and Reemployment Rights Act and some others.

Posting requirements of labor posters vary from one state to another. If your Arizona business has more than 10% Spanish-speaking employees, then you are required to post Arizona labor poster in both English and Spanish languages. This also applies in some other states such as CA, GA, NC, TX, FL and few others. However, this regulation is specifically applies to Spanish language and no other foreign language in USA. Labor law posters include some interesting facts on employee rights that many employees are not aware about. To get a deeper understanding of your rights, you can browse the internet and check at your state labor law posters.
